I qualified as a nurse many years ago. My passion lied in everything about women’s health. I trained to be a gynaecology nurse and family planning.
As time went by, I visited the Fertility clinic next to the gynaecology clinic I was working as a senior nurse. I offered to help and shadow, the rest as they say is history. I’ve been more than 20 years in the profession I love so dearly and have never looked back. As the years progressed, I observed that there was a gap in the Black and Asian Ethnic Minority community[B.A.M.E] in accessing vital information to enable them seek fertility treatment. This gap in practice and inequalities concerned me, Which led me to organise a forum to raise awareness about fertility issues in the BAME community. Over the years, I have worked with single women and couples navigating through the wilderness of infertility, some have had a successful outcome. And yes, not all treatment resulted in a pregnancy but the for those who needed closure or explore other options such as adoption.
